BRADFORD CITY OF FILM & FABRIC

PETRIFIED

In the solitude of a Victorian church in a quaint English village, a stone gargoyle leads an exceedingly dull existence with only the ever-changeable English weather and the occasional passing biplane (well, there is a war on, you know) to keep him company. That is until a pesky pigeon shows him that no matter how bad you think things have gotten, they can always get worse.

Petrified (2011) is a whimsical 3D animated short film about the consequences of rash actions and the importance of patience and tolerance. The moral: Be nice to people on the way up, because you may need their help on the way down. Commissioned by Bradford City of Film and Fabric as part of the second annual Made in Bradford Shorts Competition.

Winning filmmakers were given a budget of £1000 and just 4 months to make a film with a local theme. The film is set on top of the iconic Saltaire United Reformed Church in Saltaire village, an UNESCO World Heritage Site.
